Child custody and support cases can be filed without a divorce proceeding. Paternity cases also go through district court. The court can establish a parent-child relationship, set conservatorship terms, and order support. The Texas AG's Child Support Division handles enforcement work separately. The statewide registry under Monica's Law allows searches for active protective orders by county and name. Some records are restricted to protect the safety of parties involved.

Note: Adoption files, juvenile case records, and child abuse investigation records are sealed under Texas law and are not part of the public case index.
